Hello!
My name is Gina Coleman and I am an intern with Sodexo’s Dietetic Internship, training to become a registered dietitian. I recently graduated from Penn State University this past May with a nutrition dietetics degree and began my internship in September. As an intern with Sodexo, it is required that we obtain 1,250 hours of supervised practice before we can take our R.D exam. The major areas we practice in are clinical, food service management, community, and a concentration rotation.
The concentration I chose was wellness! I am very interested in working in an outpatient counseling environment and working with wellness programs, corporate wellness & private practice. The past few weeks I have had the great opportunity of gaining experience in corporate wellness and private practice. I have learned how to market brands using graphic design sites and how to promote wellness programs.
Under Beth, I have been learning the ins-and-outs of private practice by learning how to work with insurance companies, contracting, billing, and engaging with clients in outpatient counseling sessions. I have had such an amazing experience so far being able to concentrate on what I really want to do with nutrition. I am excited to see what I can accomplish after my graduation in June!
