When I was younger, exercise was a no-brainier. I'd come home from work, had no responsibilities, and I'd head out to the gym, go for a jog, or go to happy hour and exercise my margarita arm with Robđšđ Fast forward 10 years, and exercise seems like a BIG deal some days for so many reasons, namely that I'm exhausted from having a job, two small children, a teenager in college, a husband, and a crazy dog who doesn't listen to me. But the biggest obstacle for me is my Remicade infusion that I get every 8 weeks for my Crohn's disease. The infusion itself lasts about 3 hours and allows me to feel good, live my life, and EAT!!! The downside is that It knocks me out for a few days and then I spend the next week trying to get back on track, mostly because I feel like a bowl of jello for days afterwards. The week after that, I'm good to go. That week would be this week for me, so I'm getting back on track. It's ok to get off track. We are all human and the journey to wellness is just that, it's a constant work in progress and having an easy spirit can lighten the load. It's so important to be kind to yourself. We tend to be understanding of others in our lives but rarely show ourselves the same compassion. Be kind and gentle, then get right back on track as soon as you can. I believe that is what separates someone from reaching their goals or not. I'm sharing this with you because taking steps towards better health is hard for whatever your reason is. Research shows that being forgiving with yourself and sharing your intentions with others can increase your motivation and help you stick with the healthy changes you want to make. I'm sharing my intention with you and also a little bit about my personal journey to help me stick with my goals and to let you know you aren't the only one who struggles!!
